After more than a century of history, the steamboat Piemonte once again sails the waters of Lake Maggiore in all its former glory. Built in 1904 by the Escher Wyss shipyards in Zurich, the Piemonte is one of the most precious witnesses to the history of lake navigation in Italy. At **51.20 metres long and 6.20 metres wide, she remains an authentic testament to the Belle Époque. Her distinctive steam-powered propulsion drives two large paddle wheels, the unmistakable hallmark of this historic vessel, while the elegant interiors retain the charm of the “Art Nouveau style” that has characterized her since her origins. Following a long and complex two-year refit, carried out by Casa del Motore of La Spezia on behalf of Navigazione Laghi, the Piemonte has been returned to service following a meticulous restoration and conservation project. A careful and respectful undertaking, aimed not only at restoring the vessel to full working order, but above all at **preserving her identity, materials, details and original elegance, returning to Lake Maggiore a true jewel from another era.
